Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited) Committed to furthering the government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative through its student car project. This year, the mechatronics students created a unique van by combining the Volkswagen Taigun SUV and the Volkswagen Virtus sedan. The project was developed in phases. To complement the robust design of the van, it included special features such as underbody safety, studded tyres, ambient lighting and special lighting mounted on the roof of this vehicle.

The students were mentored by professionals from SAVWIPL throughout the project. The mentors guide the students by helping them collaborate with vendors and industry experts, helping them bring their new ideas to life. This project is one of the other initiatives that the company is undertaking, in line with the government’s focus on youth training, as per the recent announcements in the Union Budget 2024.

The SAVWIPL Academy’s dual vocational training in mechatronics is a flagship program launched in 2011 and has played a decisive role in the training of high school students. This 3.5-year full-time course, based on the German vocational system, is designed to develop and prepare young talents for the automotive industry.

Globally, Skoda has a student car project under the Skoda Academy. The group aims to integrate higher-level training into its vocational schools while supporting the national initiative ‘Skill India’. This project gives students hands-on experience in evaluating ideas and implementing them.
