Volkswagen Taigun has achieved another milestone by achieving sales of more than 1 lakh units so far. There is a huge demand in the market.
Volkswagen has achieved a major feat. Three years after its launch, Taigun has achieved another milestone by achieving sales of 1 lakh units in the Indian and overseas markets. This mid-size SUV was launched in September 2021. According to data released by SIAM, 67,140 Taiguns have been sold in India and 32,742 units have been exported till the end of August 2024, taking the total number to 99,882 units. The manufacturer crossed the milestone of 100,000 units in the first few days of September.
Volkswagen Taigun recorded its highest ever domestic sales of 21,736 units in FY23. However, sales have slightly declined since then. As for exports, the company had exported 12,621 units in FY24. Tell us why this SUV is so popular?
Safety and construction quality
One of the things that people like the most about Taigun is its safety. The SUV looks and feels solid. It has achieved a 5-star safety rating in both children and adults in the Global NCAP crash test. Taigun had achieved this maximum rating at the time of testing with only two front airbags in some variants. Recently, VW equipped the Taigun with 6 airbags as standard in all variants.
Iconic VW design
The Taigun has a very simple style. It features features like 17-inch alloy wheels, smoked LED headlights and a chrome grille.
The Volkswagen Taigun is a very practical urban SUV. It has a ground clearance of 188 mm. Driving this vehicle on rough terrain, tackling deep potholes or encountering speed bumps will not leave scratches on the underbody. This is something that is not so common on German cars.
Two petrol engines are available in the Volkswagen Taigun. This includes the 1.0 L TSI and 1.5 L TSI engine options. The 1.0 L unit found in it is capable of generating 115 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque, while the larger engine produces 150 PS and 250 Nm. Both manual and automatic transmissions are available.
The torque converter automatic comes with the 1.0-litre petrol engine while the 7-speed DSG is only available with the larger engine. The good news here is that VW offers the right engine-transmission combo for the right buyers.
