Tata Motors’ sales have declined, with last month finding only a limited number of buyers; Maintaining customer expectations during the holiday season

Tata Motors has released its September sales data. Last month, the company’s domestic sales fell 15 percent to 69,694 units. At the same time, total electric vehicle sales fell 23% to 4,680 units. On the other hand, its sales of passenger vehicles fell by 9%, to 41,313 units. While total commercial vehicle sales declined by 23% to 30,032 units. While in Q2FY25, the company sold 2,09,861 vehicles. While in Q2FY24, the company sold 2,37,128 vehicles. Thus, it recorded an annual decline of 11%.

Looking at the company’s domestic sales, it sold a total of 69,694 units in September 2024. While in September 2023, this figure was 82,023 units. This means that there is an annual decline of 15%.

Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors Limited, said, “Tata Motors’ domestic commercial vehicle sales in the second quarter of FY2025 stood at 79,931 units, 19 per cent lower than the second quarter sales. HCV segment sales in September 2024 are expected to decline by 25% in the second quarter of fiscal 2025 due to slowdown in the execution of infrastructure projects, decline in mining activities and lower overall fleet utilization due to heavy rain. The company’s sales figures are expected to improve during the holiday season.
