In fact, the e-challan system of the traffic police in Supaul in Bihar has become a cause of trouble for common people. Mohammad Afroz Alam, a low-class employee, struggled to get a pollution certificate for his bike as there was an outstanding e-challan of Rs 1,01,000 on his bike. Afroz said that on August 4, when he was cycling without a helmet, the traffic police took his photo at Degree College Chowk and issued him a challan of Rs 1,000.
According to a local newspaper, Afroz was shocked when he received a message on his mobile about a challan of Rs 1,01,000. Afroz immediately filed a complaint at the traffic police station, but until the information was received, no correction was made in the challan. This challan is said to have been issued by SI Krishnabali Singh of the traffic police station. In this, a fine of Rs 1,000 was imposed for riding a bike without a helmet, while a total fine of Rs 100,000 was imposed under different sections of the Transport Act.
Faroz told that he bought his bike in 2014 for around Rs 65,000. In such a situation, the challan of Rs 1,01,000 is a big blow for them. Shashi Shekharam, district transport officer, termed it a human error. He clarified that entry into the challan is not done by a computer but by a person. The person who came in may have made a mistake. The violation section is also mentioned in the challan and the amount is written accordingly in the challan. If a fine is imposed beyond the provisions provided for in the transport rules, it can also be rectified subsequently.
Challan even when helmet band is not installed
Not wearing a helmet was already included in breaking the rules, but now not wearing a helmet correctly is also included in the highway code. Not only this, but for this, the traffic police also issues a challan of Rs 1000 to Rs 2000. It is very important to wear a helmet before riding or sitting on a two-wheeler. In such a situation, whenever you wear a helmet, make sure that it is secure on your head. Remember to apply the strip after wearing the helmet. Often people use headsets just to avoid the challan. They don’t undress. Additionally, many helmets do not have a locking band. Or maybe it’s broken. In all of these situations, you can be arrested.
