The report on sales by model for the sub-4 meter SUV segment sold in September 2024 is out, with many models seeing significant growth. At the same time, a decline in sales of some other models was noted. Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Fronx were in the top 2, while Tata Punch and Nexon secured the third and fourth positions in the list. SUV of less than 4 meters on sale in September 2024
Maruti Brezza (Maruti Brezza) It continues to dominate the segment with sales of 15,322 units in September 2024, representing a marginal growth of 2.14% compared to the 15,001 units sold in September 2023. It holds a market share of 15.84% in this segment. At number 2 is Franks, which recorded an impressive annual growth of 20.33% in September 2024.
auntie punch (Tata Punch) And sales of its EV variants have declined in recent months. After becoming number 1 several times in a year, it became number 3 in September 2024. Tata Punch recorded sales of 13,711 units in September 2024, registering a growth of 5.18% compared to the 13,036 units sold in the same month of last year.
Tata Nexon (Auntie Nexon) India, including its EV variants, saw a significant decline in sales in September. The model sold 11,470 units, 3,855 units less than the 15,325 units sold in September 2023, a sharp decline of 25.15%.
Kia Sonet has been one of the best performing models in the subcompact SUV segment, registering a remarkable 107.36% growth in sales. Sonet more than doubled its sales year-on-year with sales of 10,335 units in September 2024 compared to 4,984 units in September 2023.
Hyundai Venue saw a significant decline in sales. A decline of 15.94% was recorded with sales of 10,259 units in September 2024 compared to 12,204 units in September 2023. Venue’s market share in this segment has now fallen to 10.60%.
Mahindra XUV3XO recorded the highest growth rate in the segment, with sales up 81.42%. It achieved sales of 9,000 units in September 2024, a significant improvement from the 4,961 units sold a year ago.
Hyundai Exter saw its sales decline by 20.11% year-on-year. Decrease from 8,647 homes in September 2023 to 6,908 homes in September 2024. Despite this decrease, Exeter still holds a 7.14% share in the subcompact SUV segment.
SUV of less than 4 meters with sales below Rs 5,000
Toyota Taisor recorded sales of 2,278 units in September 2024. Apart from this, Nissan Magnite saw a 14.43% decline in sales. Only 2,100 units have been sold as of September 2024.
Renault Kiger shows marginal growth. It recorded sales of 988 units in September 2024 compared to 980 units in September 2023, representing growth of 0.82%. Maruti Jimny suffered the largest decline in the segment with sales falling 77.40% year-on-year. The model sold only 599 units in September 2024 compared to 2,651 units in September 2023.
