The pride of the Ola electric scooter was shattered in September. Ola Electric left Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube behind in terms of sales in September 2024. Once again, Activa became number 1 and Jupiter remained number two.
The sales report of the top 10 scooters sold in September 2024 is out. Scooter sales have seen significant growth, both year-over-year and month-over-month. Scooter sales reached 6,05,873 units, an increase of 14.88% year-on-year and 9.60% month-on-month. 5,27,418 units and 5,52,816 units were sold in September 2023 and August 2024 respectively. Top 10 scooter sales in September 2024
Honda Activa once again topped the scooter sales list last month. Sales increased by 11.60% YoY, increasing by 27,260 units to 2,62,316 units as against 2,35,056 units sold in the same month last year. Honda Activa, which currently holds 43.30% market share, also showed a monthly growth of 15.33% with 2,27,458 units sold in August 2024.
TVS Jupiter ranked second with sales of 1,02,934 units last month, a year-on-year growth of 23.82% from 83,130 units sold in September 2023. Monthly sales were also increased by 15.23% from the 89,327 units sold in August 2024. The new generation Jupiter, launched in August 2024, is receiving special attention and its sales are increasing.
Sales of the Suzuki Access scooter declined last month. Sales decreased by 5.83% year-on-year and 13.96% month-on-month to 53,715 units. Market share also decreased from 11.29% to 8.87%.
It was followed by TVS Ntorq, which sold 38,463 units last month, an annual growth of 19.81% from the 32,103 units sold in September 2023. Ntorq sales also saw a monthly growth of 15 .85% with 33,201 units sold in August 2024. The Ntorq 125 was also updated with new color options in August 2024, after which the scooter is now available in 4 new color options.
The Honda Dio is a stylish scooter, which recorded sales of 35,370 units last month. However, this is a drop of 8.61% year-on-year. Sales increased slightly by 31,705 units, or 1.92% month-over-month.
Electric scooter sales led by TVS iQube
TVS iQube was the best-selling electric scooter in India in September 2024. Sales increased by 40.70% YoY and 17.98% MoM to 28,529 units.
Bajaj Chetak followed with sales of 28,517 units last month, a year-on-year growth of 217.28% from the 8,988 units sold in September 2023. The Bajaj Chetak range includes 2903 variants , 3202 and 3201. It showed a monthly growth of 31.08% with an increase of 6,761 units compared to the 21,756 units sold in August 2024.
Ola S1 (retail) sold 24,679 units last month. This is a year-over-year increase of 31.90% from the 18,711 units sold in the same month last year. Its monthly performance decreased by 10.31%.
Next in the top 10 for scooter sales in September 2024 was Yamaha Razor, which sold 16,542 units last month. This is an increase of 4.01% year-on-year, with Razer gaining a 2.73% market share. Monthly sales saw a marginal growth of 1.71% from the 16,264 units sold in August 2024.
Suzuki Burgman sales declined both year-over-year and month-over-month, with sales falling to 14,808 units last month, down 2,698 units from 17 506 units sold in September 2023. Monthly sales also decreased by 7.30% from 15,947 units sold in August 2024.
