Many cars will enter the Indian market simultaneously. Many companies will launch vehicles late this year or early in the new year. The new generation Dezire from Maruti Suzuki also has a name in this list. The company had released a teaser related to this car last month. In this teaser, the company had given the caption: “The best is only the beginning”. It is believed that it could be launched after Diwali on November 4. However, in new reports, it would be launched at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo 2025. Which will be organized from January 17 to 22 next year.
Leaked photo reveals features
We can see from the new leaked photo of Desire that it will have a completely new design. It features a larger grille with multiple horizontal slats, full LED headlights, LED fog lights, new front and rear bumpers and new alloy wheels. The updated model also features a 360-degree camera, new tri-arrow LED taillights, an integrated spoiler on the trunk lid and a segment-first electric sunroof. The interior also features beige upholstery and a dark-colored dashboard theme. The company will use the New Swift engine there.
Expected features and specifications of the new generation Dezire
The new generation of Dezire will be built on the Heartect platform of the new Swift. Along with this, many components will also be shared between the two cars. In the new Swift, the company has used a new 1.2 liter naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine from the Z series. It generates a power of 82 hp and a peak torque of 112 Nm. It replaced the 4-cylinder unit of the K series. The new engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT transmission. Dezire’s engine numbers will also remain the same.
Talking about the new Swift, the company claims that the mileage of its MT petrol variant is 24.8 km per liter and that of the AMT petrol is 25.75 km per litre. We think the Desire’s mileage might be slightly lower in comparison. However, it is also expected that the company may launch a CNG variant of the Dezire in addition to gasoline.
The new Dzire gets other features from the new Swift like a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charger, 6 standard airbags, ESP, hill start control, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, reversing camera, cruise control. These include electrically adjustable ORVMs, LED headlights and LED taillights, newly designed LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights.
What’s special about the models tested on Indian roads is that one of them was equipped with a sunroof, which means it may also have one. The price of the new Swift is expected to be slightly higher than the current model. In fact, Dezire is the crown of its segment. There’s no one that comes close to it in sales. However, in the Indian market, it will compete with models like the Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura.
