Mercedes-Benz has launched the new LWB variant of its E-Class sedan in the Indian market. Its ex-showroom price has been set at Rs 78.50 lakh. Like the previous model, the new E-Class was launched entirely in a long wheelbase configuration. The launch of this luxury sedan in India took place in April 2023, more than a year after its global launch. Mercedes-Benz recently announced that it has started local production of the new E-Class at its Chakan plant. In India, it will compete with the BMW 5 Series.
As for its powertrain, the new E-Class was introduced with a pair of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. A 2.0-liter gasoline engine is available, which produces an output of around 195 hp. The 2.0-liter diesel engine also generates around 200 hp. It has a 9-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
The new E-Class features a softer design than its previous model. Which includes styling cues like a low shoulder line and a more aerodynamic roof. The front has a larger and more attractive grille and new DRLS with new headlights. It gets a new set of taillights. This luxury sedan features 18-inch alloy wheels.
Regarding the dimensions of this new E-Class LWD, its length is 5,092 mm, width is 1,880 mm and height is 1,493 mm. It is 18mm longer and 20mm wider than the current model. Of the 18mm increase in length, 15mm was spent on increasing the wheelbase. Its wheelbase is now 3,094 mm. The interior layout is similar to that of other Mercedes-Benz models. The top model comes with MBUX SuperScreen.
The car’s SuperScreen includes 3 screens for the digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment touchscreen and a dedicated screen for the co-driver. Other features include power rear outboard seats, 4-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, motorized rear blinds, 730W Burmester 4D audio system and 64-color ambient lighting.
