Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved the remarkable feat of a total production of 1 crore vehicles at its Manesar plant. With this, Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant achieved this feat at the fastest rate among Suzuki’s global automobile manufacturing units in just 18 years. He added, “Crossing the 1 crore total production mark at the Manesar plant is a testimony to India’s manufacturing capacity and our commitment to the grand national goal of ‘Make in India’. We have focused from the beginning on the local manufacturing of components. Along with this, the company has successfully established a huge supply chain in India and we have been able to provide employment to thousands of people directly and indirectly with our supply chain partners. We will also continue to contribute to the development of the automobile industry. in India, self-reliant and globally competitive.
The Maruti Suzuki Manesar Plant, spread over 600 acres, started operations in October 2006. The company manufactures Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, Dezire, WagonR, S-Presso and Celerio at this plant. These models are sold on the domestic market. At the same time, exports are made to neighboring countries in Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Maruti Suzuki’s first passenger car exported to Japan, the Baleno, was also produced at this plant. The total production capacity of Maruti Suzuki is around 2.35 million units per annum. The company has produced over 3.11 crore vehicles since its inception.
