The mood of the country’s customers when it comes to car buying keeps changing with time. Now, customers appreciate features like the sunroof as well as the car’s more luxurious features. At the same time, according to the new report, people now prefer automatic cars over manual cars. The demand for automatic cars has increased rapidly in recent years in the country. Automatic cars are easy to drive. Their engine does not stop under harsh driving conditions, which attracts customers towards them. Despite their high prices, customers are not bothered.
Market share increased by 10%
According to the report, the share of automatic vehicles in total vehicle sales in 2020 was 16%, and it has now increased to 26%. In cities with heavy traffic, the demand for such cars increases, reducing the hassle of intermittent driving. According to a report by Jato Dynamics, one in three vehicles sold in 20 major cities is automatic. These are kept in the premium segment.
More expensive car up to Rs 2 lakh
They are also priced higher by Rs 60,000 to Rs 2 lakh compared to vehicles equipped with a manual gearbox. Due to the growing demand, companies like Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Mahindra, Tata, Hyundai and Nissan have launched 83 models of their vehicles with automatic transmission. Maruti has given the automatic option even in its cheapest model i.e. the entry-level Alto K10. Maruti also remains the leader in this segment.
More mileage than manual
The main feature of these vehicles is that there is no need to change gears. They can only be driven using the brake then the accelerator. Automatic cars reduce the problem of driving in traffic jams and by not changing gears frequently, these vehicles also give more mileage. Some companies like Honda also offer a CVT transmission. The automatic transmission has a clutch, while in the CVT the sensors act as the clutch. Automatic cars also have higher mileage.
