Tata Motors has its roots firmly established in the country’s four-wheeler electric vehicle segment. Even in the last month i.e. September, the company had over 61% market share in the segment. However, the bad news for the company is that it is facing a 16% decline on an annual basis. While 6 companies from number 2 to number 5 in the list recorded growth on a year-over-year basis. MG Motor India’s electric vehicle, which is in second position, is generating tremendous response. The company had around 17% market share in this segment.

When it comes to electric car sales, Tata Motors sold 3,621 units in September 2024. While in September 2023, this figure was 4,325 units. This means that it sold 704 fewer units and recorded an annual decline of 16.28%. At the same time, its market share was 61.64%. MG Motors sold 977 units in September 2024. While in September 2023, this figure was 895 units. This means it sold 82 more units and recorded an annual growth of 9.16%. At the same time, its market share was 16.63%.
Mahindra sold 454 units in September 2024. While in September 2023, this figure was 358 units. This means it sold 96 more units and recorded an annual growth of 26.82%. At the same time, its market share was 7.73%. Citroën sold 386 units in September 2024. While in September 2023, this figure was 143 units. This means it sold 243 more units and recorded an annual growth of 169.93%. At the same time, its market share was 6.57%.
BYD sold 163 units in September 2024. While in September 2023, this figure was 151 units. This means it sold 12 more units and achieved annual growth of 7.95%. At the same time, its market share was 2.77%. BMW sold 106 units in September 2024. While in September 2023, this figure was 77 units. This means it sold 29 more units and recorded an annual growth of 37.66%. At the same time, its market share was 1.8%.
Mercedes sold 81 units in September 2024. While in September 2023, this figure was 73 units. This means that it sold 8 more units and achieved an annual growth of 10.96%. At the same time, its market share was 1.38%. Hyundai sold 26 units in September 2024. While in September 2023, this figure was 213 units. This means that it sold 187 fewer units and recorded an annual decline of 87.79%. At the same time, its market share was 0.44%.
