Sales of 350-450cc motorcycles in August 2024 were nothing special. The segment saw a slight decline of 3.59% on an annual basis. Its total sales stood at 75,632 units, compared to 78,452 units in August 2023. However, some models saw an increase in sales. At the same time, some other models have seen a decline. In this segment, Royal Enfield has won yet again, leaving behind motorcycles like Triumph, Bajaj, Honda, Harley, Hero, KTM, Aprilia. Royal Enfield’s dominance
According to the Rushlane report, Royal Enfield’s Classic 350 was the best-selling bike, with 28,450 units sold, a growth of 8.93% over last year. The Classic 350 retained a dominant market share of 37.62%. However, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 saw a slight decline of 4.80% with just 13,481 units sold, but still contributed 17.82% of the total segment sales.
The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 suffered a massive drop of 42.18%. It sold 8,660 units in August 2024, which is 6,318 units less than last year. The Meteor 350 also saw a drop of 21.34%. Its total sales were 6,785 units.
The Triumph 400 recorded a year-on-year growth of 3.87% with 3,328 units sold. The Bajaj Pulsar 400 entered the market with strong sales of 2,516 units, gaining a share of 3.33%. Royal Enfield Guerrilla achieved sales of 2,205 units.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan suffered a significant decline of 45.57%, with sales dropping to 2,099 units. Jawa Yezdi (retail) also saw a decline of 13.13%, with 2,058 units sold, reflecting a difficult time for these adventure and retro models.
The Honda Highness 350 suffered the biggest drop in the segment, falling 52.18% with just 1,653 units sold. On the other hand, the Honda CB 350 contributed 1,459 units in August 2024 and the Harley Davidson X440 sold only 885 units.
The KTM 390 saw a drop of 16.84%. It sold only 711 units, while the Bajaj Dominar 400 declined by 15.10% and sold 703 units. The Aprilia RS 457 achieved sales of 415 units. Hero Maverick also debuted, achieving sales of 170 units. Husqvarna 401 and Kawasaki Eliminator 400 contributed small numbers to the segment by selling 48 and 6 units respectively.
