Citroën India sales breakthrough data for September 2024 has been revealed. The company sells a total of 5 cars in the Indian market. This also includes an electric model. Last month’s sales figures were not good for the company. There were three models in its list in which only 1 unit of one was sold, 28 units of the second and only 41 units of the third. The good news for the company is that its new Basalt coupe has become the best-selling car. However, compared to August, the company faced a decline in terms of models and segments.

If we look at Citroen India sales figures for September 2024, 341 units of Basalt Coupe were sold in September. While in August its 579 units were sold. 300 units of C3 were sold in September. While in August its 507 units were sold. 41 Aircross units were sold in September. While in August its 38 units were sold. 28 units of eC3 were sold in September. While in August its 150 units were sold. 1 copy of C5 Aircross was sold in September. While in August, only one unit was sold. Thus, a total of 711 Citroën India units were sold in September. While in August its 1275 units were sold.

Features and specifications of the Citroën Basalt

The front end of the Basalt is very similar to that of the Citroën C3 Aircross, with which it shares its underpinnings. It also features similarly styled daytime running lights, headlight cluster, grille, and front air intake placement. The Basalt’s design is evident from the side, as it features a coupe roofline that tapers from the B-pillar to a tall trunk lid with an integrated spoiler lip. It features 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

As for its interior, its layout is similar to that of the C3 Aircross, in which elements such as the design of its dashboard and its 10.25-inch central touch screen have been adopted. Unlike the Aircross, it has a 7.0-inch fully digital instrument display. It has adjustable under-thigh support for the rear seats. The Basalt also has a 15-watt wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and connected car technology.

Coming to its powertrain, it offers two petrol engine options. The first is a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine, which produces 81 hp and 115 Nm of torque. It is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Basalt also has the option of a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 108 PS and 195 Nm. It comes with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Coming to the color options, 5 single-color options will be available including Polar White, Steel Gray, Platinum Gray, Garnet Red, and Cosmo Blue. White and red colored roofs will also be available. All its variants and their prices will be announced in the coming days. In India, it will compete with the likes of Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Tata Curve.
