Sales of 125cc motorcycles in September 2024

According to a report by Rushlane, sales of 125cc motorcycles increased by 21.16% on an annual basis and 19.82% on a monthly basis to reach 3,78,787 units in September 2024. This is linked to an improvement in volume on an annual basis of 66,147 units. According to this, 3,12,640 units were sold in September 2023, while in August 2024, the sales were 3,16,143 units, representing a volume growth of 62,644 units.

Honda Shine+SP retained the number 1 position in this list, with sales of 1,53,476 units. This is an increase of 13.40% YoY from the 1,35,339 units sold in September 2023. This growth of 18,137 units YoY helped Honda Shine gain 40.52% share market.

Bajaj Pulsar 125+ NS was next with sales of 78,590 units last month. This is a 16.85% year-on-year increase from the 67,256 units sold in September 2023. This also translated into a 15.83% improvement in MoM from the 67,849 units sold in August 2024. Recently, Bajaj Auto expanded its 125cc range, which currently includes the Pulsar 125 and Pulsar NS125. This also includes the new Pulsar N125.

The third entrant in the 125cc motorcycle segment was TVS Raider. However, its sales fell by 11.24% year-on-year to 43,274 units last month, compared to 48,753 units sold in September 2023. The monthly sales performance was better compared to the 26,923 units sold in August 2024, an improvement of 60.73%.

Hero Xtreme 125 sold 37,520 units last month with a market share of 9.91%. This is a monthly increase of 35.61% from August 2024 sales of 27,668 units. This was followed by Hero Splendor and Glamour.

Splendor sales increased 3.16% YoY and 41.30% MoM to 26,318 units, while Glamor sales fell 44.26% YoY to 19,831 units in September 2024. Hero Glamor also witnessed a double-digit growth of 23.50% in monthly demand from 16,057 units sold in August 2024.

Bajaj Freedom sales in September 2024

The new Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG+Petrol achieved sales of 19,639 units in September 2024. Currently, its market share is 5.18%. Freedom sales in August 2024 were 9,215 units, a monthly growth of 113.12%.

Sales of KTM RC and Duke 125cc decreased by 31.53% year-on-year to 139 units. This is 64 units less than the 203 units sold in September 2023. However, MoM sales increased by 28.70% compared to the 108 units sold in August 2024.
