Royal Enfield is all set to launch its first electric motorcycle. The company will present it at EICMA this year. On this subject, the company also released a teaser in which it said that it would retain the date of November 4. The test mule of this electric motorcycle has already been seen on foreign roads. These photos show the prototype of Royal Enfield’s first production electric motorcycle. His photo was shared by MCN.
This electric motorcycle test mule sports a round LED headlight and a slim, low-slung build. This bike is also equipped with an adjustable lever. In it, the indicators are placed near the instrument console. Its hardware includes girder forks, alloy rims with road-oriented tires and an open rear fender. The footpegs appear to be neutrally adjusted. The mirrors resemble those of the existing Classic 350.
The battery and motor details of this electric motorcycle from Royal Enfield have not been revealed. The company used aluminum in many places, including the front fork, main frame and swingarm of its first electric motorcycle. The price of an electric motorcycle in the Indian market is around Rs 1.50 lakh. Another big advantage for the company is that it will launch it before Ola’s first electric motorcycle.
Expected Features of Royal Enfield’s Electric Motorcycle
The design of Royal Enfield’s electric motorcycle was also leaked earlier. According to this, it will be seen in the form factor of a classic style bobber. This electric motorcycle will have the possibility of carrying a passenger. The design of its chassis will be completely unique. It may feature a sloping front end, a hollowed-out solo seat, and an open, sloping rear fender. The loop frame at the fuel tank may be very different from that of stock motorcycles. It looks a lot like Harley-Davidson’s cruiser motorcycle.
It is believed that the battery can be used as a frame in this electric motorcycle. In it, the battery cover and the motor can be installed. This would be similar to what Harley-Davidson electric bike maker Livewire did with its S2 model. The bike may have a belt drive on the right side of the bike and disc brakes on both sides. From the images of the bike that have surfaced, it appears that it has a monoshock attached to the upper member of the swingarm.
The main attraction of this electric motorcycle is the front suspension setup, where the girder forks can be seen. This was seen in the Electric 01 concept. Beam forks have two beam arms that hold the wheel on either side. An upper dogbone connects the front fork to the main frame of the bike. The Royal Enfield electric bike design patent is unlikely to be a production specification. Instead, it could be a concept that Royal Enfield could showcase at the upcoming auto show. Patenting a vehicle concept is a fairly common practice. Production models may have thicker tires than seen in this patent and USD front forks.
