Tata Motors has finally launched the CNG variant of the Nexon. With its arrival, the sales figures of Nexon might improve. The special thing is that its ex-showroom price is Rs 8.99 lakh. This also makes it the cheapest CNG car in its segment. Moreover, the company has offered 8 CNG variants. Earlier, the only CNG model in the compact SUV segment in the country was the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. In such a situation, we will now see a competition between Brezza and Nexon.

Coming to the prices of the CNG variants of Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon, the ex-showroom prices of the Brezza CNG range from Rs 9.29 lakh to Rs 12.09 lakh. At the same time, the ex-showroom prices of the Nexon CNG range from Rs 8.99 lakh to Rs 14.59 lakh. This means that there is a difference of Rs 30,000 in the starting price of the two.
Nexon and Brezza CNG Engine and Mileage
>> Tata Nexon CNG gets a 1.2-litre dual-fuel turbo engine, which supports both petrol and CNG. It generates a maximum power of 100 PS and a peak torque of 170 Nm. The engine comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. As per the company’s claim, the mileage of the Nexon CNG can reach 24 km/kg.
>> On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG uses a 1.5-litre K15C dual-fuel engine, which supports both petrol and CNG. It generates a maximum power of 88 bhp and a peak torque of 121 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. As per the company’s claim, the Brezza CNG’s mileage can reach 25.51 km/kg.
CNG plays important role in Brezza sales
This year, Brezza has achieved the best performance in the compact SUV segment. Its 124,019 units were sold between January and August. CNG has also played a significant role in the excellent sales of Brezza. In such a situation, the Nexon CNG option has now come to the public. The effect of which is also visible on the sales of Brezza. The special thing is that Nexon can be purchased with petrol, diesel, CNG and electric powertrain in Bhirtay Bajra. It is also the only SUV in its segment that comes with all these options. The automatic transmission option is currently not available in these two SUVs.
